About

They were at the beginning of 2013, when several Pontevedra boys began to be interested in this sport practically unknown in the city, and that it began to be practiced in some villages in the country. Attracted by a noble game, a romantic idea of a popular sport that retains its original values, an alternative to the most popular sports in the city ... this group of young people began to work to try to bring together a few friends with whom, little by little, being able to go doing workouts. Just a short time later, his work resulted, and a group of about ten people was prepared and willing to start with this cute project. After several meetings, it was decided to adopt the name of the city for the club, as well as to make clear reference to it in our shield; For the colors, the green, color that surrounds us every day of our lives in our country. After performing the opportune management, and contacting people with more experience so that we had a hand, we were ready to begin. It was on March 9, 2013 , and the Pontevedra Gaélico Football kicked ... We met then with new problems. Given the repeated negatives of the Sports Concellería de Pontevedra to facilitate a field and start training, we are obliged to train in a small abandoned field located outside our town, in the municipality of Poio, without dressing rooms or showers, with the grass in quite poor condition , full of stones, without lighting, and very close to the freeway, which caused more than one ball to be lost, which meant for the humble economy of the club. Over time, this small field in which we took our first steps, was affectionately called "O Patatal". After several months in the Patatal, and with the Galician League already quick to start, we got a field in training, in Xunqueira. More, once again the Concellería, this time due to incompatibility of schedules, denied us a field to play the games of the Galician League, so we had no choice but to emigrate from the city once more, and play in Campo del Carrasco in Marcón, where we were welcomed spectacularly The club has consolidated itself with more than 25 players, and every day with more illusion and more motivation to continue improving. The first Liga Galega would serve as mere learning, would end in the 5th position, without winning any game, but getting more and more tight results. The first great success of the club came at the first contested Iberian Tournament, the one in A Coruña. There, among 15 clubs throughout the Peninsula, this beginner team would achieve a mere 7th place, eliminating, among others, the local club. There would be iron engraving that would become the motto of the club: "Fire!" In the first Galician Cup, the team already competed equally, and the 5th place of the league would be repeated, but this time with 8 clubs, and one step closer to the semifinals. The second season in the history of this modest club could not start better. With enthusiasm the calls of a friend were waiting for the national team to dispute in the month of August against Madrid, and three players and a player from Pontevedra FG would be called for the first time in the history of the club. In addition, they would have relevant performances on the day of their debut and would contribute actively in their wins. Shortly afterwards, one of the most important events of the short history of the PFG, the European Championship, that would be disputed in Madrid, and where those of Pontevedra would finish in the 7th position arrived. The mere fact of having disputed this championship is already a success alone due to the great difficulties that had to be overcome. For memory and anecdote mode, the arrival of much of the picture to the stadium is just an hour before the first game, in a leased van and after more than 600 kilometers during the night, meanwhile the rivals arrived by bus after sleeping all the night at your hotel. An even bigger one came soon. At last, the female team was created. Advanced to the pre-season came the dispute of the Trofeo City of Pontevedra, with the debut in addition, the newly created female team. He would end up with two clear defeats, but with a trophy that was expected he would become historical over the years. The second league would begin with problems, parties as venues should be played again in exile. This time, more than 20 kilometers from Pontevedra, in the municipality of A Lama, in Campo de Racelo. That yes, for the first time, the league would have the presence of the two sections of the club, the male and the female. The Galician League would pass calmly over both sections. The female team would start really strong, placing in third place a great part of the season, but a second round after a physical low in the final part of the competition would relegate women from Pontevedra FG to the sixth place at the end of the league. The male team would not be in a hurry and would repeat the fifth place of the previous year after winning six games, getting no trouble and finishing off the descent positions. Just after the end of the Galician League came two great news that would make the club grow even more. The dispute of the II Round of the Iberian Tournament in Barcelona, in which Pontevedra would obtain a commendable fifth place in the longest movement in the history of the club until that moment. Shortly after there would be a historical fact. In the IV Round of the Iberian Tournament of La Coruña, Pontevedra would present for the first time three teams (one female and two men).
