About

Our club was founded in February 2001 by an Irishman called Finbar Barrett who had previous experience in European GAA with the Paris Gaels club in France. In our clubs inaugural year, we competed in tournaments in Munich, Paris and finally Luxembourg, which was a highly impressive achievement. We then hosted our first official tournament in February 2002 that involved Den Haag (The Hague) from the Netherlands, Glynn/Barnstown from Wexford in Ireland and our own club. The club continued to grow gradually and our first Iberian Championship successes were in 2007 with both our Gaels and Gaelette’s team victorious! Our ladies regained the trophy in 2008 while our men’s team had to wait until the following year to get their hands on the silverware. The greatest year of our clubs brief history was the double championship winning year of 2013 and one that is difficult to see being repeated in Iberia. Our men’s team went the full season unbeaten while our Gaelette’s almost emulated this achievement but were unlucky to lose in the final match of the closing tournament in Madrid. The championship has developed notably since then and the format now involves a greater number of teams and one that continues to grow and attract new teams joining, primarily those from North West Spain and the region of Galicia. This expansion has also seen the development of teams in Catalonia such as the Sitges Eagles club just outside Barcelona and the Gran Sol club in the city.
