Fulham Irish GAA Club was officially formed in January 2006. John Doyle, a native of Carlow and Liam Barry, a Limerick man, decided it was time to form a new club that would serve the needs of the increasing professional population in Central London. They contacted Mike Rice, of Kerry origin, to gauge his interest. Mike was excited by the idea and so on December 10, 2005, all three met in a pub in Park Royal to discuss the initial plan for setting up the new club. It was at this meeting that the name, club colours and approach to setting up the club was decided. A chance conversation with Jim Clair, from Meath, brought Liam and John in contact with Tony O'Donovan (RIP) of the Plough & Harrow public house in Leytonstone. Tony, a native of Limerick, was in the process of renovating the famous Plough & Harrow pub and wanted to join forces with a GAA team. The meeting took place just before Christmas and Tony decided that despite the obvious problem with location, he had heard enough to know he would be the clubs main sponsor at the start. Seamus McNelis (Tyrone) joined the club as president and is a key driving force behind the scenes at the club. The club is currently sponsored by Kilnbridge, Cappagh, O'Halloran & O'Brien, Brian Doherty London, Finlay Group, SG McNelis Ltd, Asite, the Daly family and the Livelyhood pub group as well as the many sponsors taking adverts on the club supporter's wall and our recent concept of past players sponsoring a match throughout the season. Since inception, the club has been successful in many of the London competitions. The club has grown from fielding two men's teams in 2006 to a complement of four teams in 2013, a ladies team and a hurling team representing the club in competition since 2011. The club has also been involved in coaching in the schools coaching in Fulham since 2008. The ladies team was formed following numerous requests for a ladies club to be based more centrally. The ladies team has gone from strength to strength under the guidance of Terence Cunnea, winning all three London Junior trophies in the 2010 season and following up in 2011 with wins in the London Intermediate Championship, Provincial Junior Championship of Great Britain and the Mary Feehan Cup. In 2013 and 2014, saw the ladies team secure the club's sole honour with the London Intermediate Championship in 2013 and Provincial Shield in 2014. The hurling team followed a similar path to the football team with a number of players looking for a new club in the central London area. This saw the club affiliate a hurling team in 2011. The team have started well, reaching three finals in their first year from four competitions, winning the Ronan Cup and McCullough Cup finals in 2011 and securing the Intermediate Championship in 2012.
