About

We are currently looking for new players, club members or anyone willing to help the club. John Mitchels CLG Liverpool is the oldest Gaelic club in the UK and outside Ireland, with proof dating back to 1902! Although the club was ‘away' for a number of years, we once again play and promote Gaelic games (presently football) in Liverpool, with a Ladies team and Junior & Senior men's team. Our underage system is also progressing with the help and hard work of the teachers (mainly players) all across Merseyside. Our ladies have been All Britain champions and have moved up to a higher level of competition in only a few years…our Junior footballers won the championship for the fifth year in a row this year!!! And the Seniors are going for 4 in a row!!! We were the first and so far only football club side to ever win an All Ireland club game on Irish soil and the first football club outside Ireland to ever get to an All Ireland Football Final in February 2009. We play our games at Greenbank Park, the first official Gaelic pitch ever in Liverpool and play teams from all over the UK and Ireland. The club has a vast and proud history, with many of its former players and members Liverpool born, but with a love for the game and without the support of the Liverpool community we wouldn't exist! We also have lots of Irish members that have moved to Liverpool over the years to live and thought the clubs history it's amazing to see how many were involved and that fact that some of them still are…some for over 60yrs!!! If you are interested in playing, being a member, helping out in anyway (training, advertising etc) please let us know. The aim is to promote the game and help the club grow. Even by inviting friends to join us on facebook you are doin your bit!
