St. Dympna's GFC was formed in 1957. It all started when a group of twenty members had a "get together" at Blundell Road Park, where Monaghan Gaels discussed the idea and formed St Dympna's GFC as a result, and the Gaelic Football Club in Luton. In 1958 the club won its first major title by beating a strong St Mary's team from Kilburn in a thrilling London divisional championship final. St. Dympna's went on to win the first Senior Football League to be staged in Hertfordshire, with Erin's Hope winning the championship. St Dympna's made history again. The club has been founded on a great love for Gaelic games and has upheld the traditions this brings over its lifetime. It is built around a community spirit and down the years travelling from Ireland and beyond to forge lifetime friendships. St Dympna's has great links and relationships with many other clubs locally and internationally and the social activities and sense of community spirit nurtured within the club is one of its great trademarks. However, the ingredients underpinning the success of the club are a sheer love of Gaelic games, dedication, hard work, vision, community sprit and fun – these things always remain.
