About

In August 1980 the 'Central Coast Irish Association' was founded. The Central Coast GAA Club then became its' affiliated club. The Hurling team, the first of the clubs teams, was created in 1983 thanks to the efforts of Peter Murphy, Jack & Tom Mahony, John Walsh & Mossie Doody. The first League title followed in 1985 with a rousing victory against Penrith Gaels. This winning tradition has continued throughout the years with multiple league and championship titles and numerous state honours. In 1990 the Ladies football team was founded. Their first title came in 1993 when they captured the league but they had to wait until 1999 for their second league title. Since then they have gone from strength to strength and are now one of the most successful ladies teams in NSW. In 2006 the first official Camogie competition took place in NSW. It was actually at the clubs own 'Central Coast Gosford Sports Day' where the first game was played. The Central Coast Camogie team were victorious on the day and so started the proud run of being the most rewarded club camogie team in Australia. Throughout the years many Coast players have represented NSW at state level with numerous national hurling, camogie and football titles garnered. The club has also had the privilege of having had several players represent Australasia at international level in the GAA World Games.
